Student Assessment Policy
In its endeavor to meet the needs of all students and to ensure high quality instruction, the Board supports the careful use of student Assessment and Evaluation information for tracking and understanding individual student progress, communicating with parents, helping students themselves take responsibility for improved learning, and enabling responsible decisions about student grade placement or level of programming. This Student Code of Conduct applies to students of Capstone Engineering Academy and in keeping with the values of Capstone Engineering Academy to ensure that all students, staff, volunteers and other stakeholders are provided with a welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environment. General Code of Conduct
This General Code of Conduct applies to staff, parents/guardians, contractors, consultants, volunteers, stakeholders, Board Members on-site at Capstone Engineering Academy campus, during on-site or off-site school related tasks or activities. Learn more about our General Code of Conduct Policy.

Education Plan May 29, 2024
The Education Plan for Capstone Engineering Academy commencing August 30, 2023, was prepared under the direction of the Board of Directors in accordance with the responsibilities under the Private Schools Regulation and the Education Grants Regulation. This Education Plan was developed in the context of the provincial government’s business and fiscal plans. The Board has used its performance results to develop the plan and is committed to implementing the strategies contained within the plan to improve student learning and results.
The Board approved this Education Plan for 2023/2024 to 2024/2026 on May 29, 2024. The report was submitted to Alberta Education on May 31, 2024, and was also posted to the school’s website. Annual Education Results Report December 22, 2023
The Annual Education Results Report for Capstone Engineering Academy for the last year commencing September 1, 2022, was prepared by the Head of School under the direction of the Board of Directors and in the context of the provincial government’s business and fiscal plans. Permit to Practice April 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025
An Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta Permit to Practice allows Capstone Engineering Academy to teach and practice engineering and geoscience in Alberta. Capstone Engineering Company has a designated APEGA licensed professional as the company’s Responsible Member that regulates the practices of engineering and geoscience within the school. Device Usage Policy
General Guidelines
- Purpose: Devices are to be used for educational purposes only. Any use of devices for gaming, social media, or other non-educational activities during school hours is prohibited.
- Supervision: Devices must be used under teacher supervision. Unauthorized use is not allowed.
- Security: Students are responsible for the security of their devices. Devices should be labeled with the student’s name and grade.
- Internet Safety: Access to inappropriate content is strictly forbidden. School Wi-Fi will have content filters in place, but students must adhere to responsible browsing practices.
- Software: Only school-approved software and applications should be installed. Any unauthorized software is prohibited.
- Charging: Devices must be fully charged before arriving at school. Limited charging facilities are available, and reliance on these should be minimized.
- Damage/Theft: The school is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage of devices. Parents should consider insurance coverage for their child’s device.
- Etiquette: Devices should be used in a manner that does not disrupt others. Sound must be muted unless required for an activity and earphones are permitted.
Usage in Different Areas
- Classrooms: Devices are to be used under the guidance of teachers for class-related activities.
- Library/Media Center: Devices can be used for research and reading, adhering to the library’s specific rules.
- Common Areas: Limited use, primarily for educational purposes during breaks.
- Extracurricular Activities: Usage depends on the activity and supervision of the instructor.
Consequences
- First Offense: Verbal warning and device confiscation for the day.
- Second Offense: Parental notification and device confiscation for a week.
- Third Offense: Meeting with parents to discuss ongoing issues and potential disciplinary actions.
